The Federal Agency of Air Transport plan to tighten control over operating international charter flights by Russian Airline Companies. The analysis of charter flight regularity showed that summarizing the results of May and June, some airlines could not ensure airpark reservation. As a result, according to the FAAT, KD-avia had 29 delays for 3 hours and more, VIM-avia – 25 delays, that is correspondingly 12% and 6% of a total number of operated charters. Therefore, it was decided that in July the Rosaviation will not accept applications for additional charter flights from the Airlines. According to unaccredited sources, a number of declines will be equal to a number of delays. Commenting on the situation, the FAAT pointed out that the measure is a warning for the charter market. Thus, Evgeny Bachurin, the Head Deputy of Rosaviation, said: ‘the measure is aimed at avoiding situations when airlines plan more charters than they can operate properly. It is a violation of passengers’ rights’. He also added: ‘we will control the situation. It was decided to analyze the regularity of flights on a monthly basis. We will take restrictive measures towards airlines which do not meet the set standard’. On July 4th representatives of KD-avia and VIM-avia were unavailable for comments. BANKO will continue reporting on the development of events.
