Exotic Prices in Low Season

From September 2nd until September 30th flights from Moscow to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh will cost $400, while flights to Melbourne and Sydney will be on sale for $740. Furthermore, flights to Guangzhou, Kunming, Kaohsiung, Taipei, Hong Kong, Phnom-Penh, Vientiane, Bangkok, Singapore, Manila, and Kuala Lumpur will be on offer for $450. (all prices do not include taxes and fees). Vietnam Airlines organizes such discount campaigns every year. However, considering the relaunch of Aeroflot flights to Hanoi with a block cost of the seat $500, some travel market experts regard the price reduction by Vietnam Airlines to be a reactive measure against the national airline. Meanwhile, the majority of Russian travel market players do not see intrigue in the situation and explain special offers for airline tickets by the attempt to attract attention to the country in low season. According to them, Vietnam Airlines has stable demand in the market. Thus, Konstantin Denisov, the Head of the South – East Asia Department of Kwinta – tour, commented as follows: ‘the airline operates flights not only to Hanoi but to Saigon. The great advantage of Vietnam Airlines is a 50% discount for inner flights. Furthermore, considering conversion and additional fees a flight to Hanoi by Vietnam Airlines costs 17, 000 rubles (around $600) that is more expensive than Aeroflot block rates. Margarita Davlikova, General Director Deputy of Inna Tour, summarized: ‘in low season special offer by Vietnam Airlines is primarily interesting for fam – trip organizers’.
