According to experts, travel companies sit on the fence over Turkey owning to January reports about bird flu outbreaks and current ‘caricature scandal’ that prevents travel market players from making accurate forecasts. Gennadyi Kosarev, General Director of Fresh Travel, believes that May holidays in Russia will be a demonstrative period.
Travel market players say there were no noticeable changes to plans for Turkey as major contracts have been signed already and parties do not intend to make considerable alterations to them. Elena Pistsova, the Head of Turkish Department of Tourenergoservice, stated the following: ‘we are trying not to think about possible unfavorable development of events as the majority of contracts were signed even before New Year’.
As a result experts do not exclude the possibility of special offers from Turkish hoteliers in case of unfavorable scenario (for example, new media reports about bird flu in the country). Nevertheless, experts doubt more than 10% price reduction.
