The Higher Demand The Fewer Hotels

   A BANKO correspondent contacted travel companies that specialize in the Czech Republic market in order to ask them about their forecasts for May holidays. However, travel companies representatives divided opinion regarding the success of May sales. Last year according to a governmental decision May holidays were “divided”. As a result travel market players faced an excess of flights. At the moment experts find it difficult to forecast hoping for a more favourable development of events. Irina Lurie, the Head of Tourism Department of Travel System Bohemia, stated as follows: 'it’s difficult to anticipate at the moment. But the fact is that the demand is growing'. According to travel market players, tourist flow might increase at 20–25%.
    Meanwhile, in case of favourable situation another problem arise – shortage of hotel rooms caused by several events held in Prague at the end of April and at the beginning of May.
    On the other hand, if tourist flow does not increase travel companies will experience difficulties planning charter programs for the period. At the moment two charters are scheduled for the May holidays. Nevertheless, some travel market players believe: ‘that each touroperating company will launch three flights even doubting the success’, said Vladislav Salatov, President of DVM-Tour.
