On September 19th Russian travel market players were concerned about the situation in Bangkok owing news reports about the takeover in the country. Will the takeover affect the travel industry of the country that annually hosts around 100,000 tourists from Russia? What consequences will it have? A BANKO correspondent discovered that after the first information received from the Thai partners Russian tour operators felt relieved. Thai sources said that the takeover did not affect the resorts at all. Tatiana Chuvilkina, Deputy of General Director of Natalie Tours, confirmed that the situation at the resorts is calm. Furthermore, Roman Ribakov, PR Director of TEZ TOUR, believes that ‘bloodless Buddhist revolution’ will not affect the travel industry in Thailand. ‘Even those who are in Bangkok do not feel the consequences of the takeover. On Wednesday an excursion to the King’s Palace will be organized for tourists’, Ribakov said. Furthermore, Head of the Moscow Tourism Office of Thailand, Konstantin Kinel, also confirmed that the situation is calm.
