[IMG=21013-6843]Russian tour operators that specialize in tours to Goa are finishing preparation for the new season. The issue that generated the great interest behind the scenes has become an ambitious initiative of Pegas Touristik that has allegedly made an agreement with one of the most prestigious hotels in Goa - Park Hyatt Goa Resort. According to the agreement the tour operator will buy a considerable number of rooms – 50-70 - in the hotel on the terms of fixed block. Given a total number of rooms in the hotel – 251 – 50-70 rooms is a number previously allocated to the whole Russian market. Meanwhile, representatives of Pegas Touristic do not unveil the details pointing out that the agreement was made and that ‘a number of rooms is more than enough for Goa’. According to Anna Podgornaya, Sales Director of Pegas Touristik, the hotel did not set any exclusive terms: ‘they analyzed our work in Goa and as worked effectively, they made a decision to sign that contract’. According to her, any tour operator following the same politics can have the same result. Meanwhile, tour operators consider the initiative of Pegas to be interesting and up-to-date. ‘Park Hyatt is in the highest demand on the Russian market. We also have it in our assortment’, said Victoria Kizimova, Tourism Director of UTE Megapolus group that also has a contract with Park Hyatt. Elena Zelenina, Development Director of Deo, added: ‘Hyatt is well-known on the Russian market and is in high demand’. She also pointed out that other tour operators have alternative accommodation to offer – other top 5* hotels, for example, Taj Exotica and Intercontinental. Furthermore, travel market experts point out the other side of the coin. Considerable number of rooms suggests serious financial risks. Consequently, some experts forecast special offers for the prestigious hotel. However, Anna Podgornaya, deflated all rumors regarding possible dumping prices in low season: ‘we have been working in Goa for several years and have analyzed the situation on destination. Our marketing department has made all necessary estimates therefore dumping is excluded’.
