Russian tour operators that organize tours to Nepal said to a BANKO correspondent with the reference to their Nepalese partners that the situation in the country is stabilizing. We remind you that violent protests in the capital of Nepal followed the killing of 12 Nepalese hostages in Iraq.
‘On Monday we had several cancellations of tours to Nepal and had to offer our clients alternative vacation destinations however by the middle of the night the situation had normalized – at the moment there are no riots and demonstrations. As a result we have new requests for tours’, commented Elizaveta Golchina, the Head of Asian Department of Astravel. According to her, the situation in the country stabilized after the King of Nepal, His Majesty Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shan Deva, had signed Decree on the Parliament Creation thus having met the requirements of the opposition. Furthermore, Karina Mkrtchan, Vice-president of the Himalayan Club confirmed the information.
However, there is no official information about the stabilization of the situation in Nepal. On April 24th the official web site of the Ministry of Foreign affairs of the Russian Federation reported that the political situation in Nepal remained tense and unpredictable and levels of violence remained high across Nepal.
