[IMG=21072-6916] Russian tourists who will arrive at Thailand on September 28th on Aeroflot flight will be among the first to see the new airport - Suvarnabhumi Airport that is located 35 kilometres far from Bangkok and has, according to Aeroflot press release, a more comfortable system of passenger services comparing to the old Don Muang. All flights previously operated from Don Muang will be transferred to Suvarnabhumi Airport. Don Muang Airport will be closed on September 29th.
Meanwhile, Moscow tour operators are not concerned about change of the airport. Anatoly Garkushin, General Director of pantheon Travel Company, said that ‘if Aeroflot made such a decision, it is convenient and there will be no problems’. Dmitry Chichkanov from Thailand Department of Skyway, agreed: ‘the main service will start working in time. Moreover, the new airport is located closer to Pattaya, therefore the transfer will take less time’. Besides, Chcichkaniv believes, that for tourists who book a tour without visiting Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport will be more convenient.
However, experts in Thailand see the situation from a different perspective. Thus, Nikolay Salikhov, Director of the Thai Incoming Company, Ivan Susanin, explained that ‘3, 000 000 000 $ were invested into Suvarnabhumi Airport and it has been built for forty years. Besides, 6 more months are required for finishing the interior. The location of the airport is not convenient – the transfer time from the airport to Bangkok and back has increased by 2 hours’. He added that the other day the newly built cook-room suffered in fire although the fire station is around 100 meters from the cook-room. ‘There is a doubt that the airport will work normally after its opening’, commented Director of Ivan Susanin.
