Dubai Will See Ten New Hotels

[IMG=20315-6085]According to the Department of Tourism and Commercial Marketing of Dubai, the first hotel in Al Barsha area (real estate developer – Reef Real Estate) will open at the beginning of 2007. Three hotels more are at the project stage, while other five hotels are being planned. New hotels will add 2,000 hotel rooms to the hotel base of the emirate. Total cost of the project - $500,000 000. According to travel market experts interviewed by a BANKO correspondent, new hotels in Dubai will make a positive impact on the market. Thus, Alexey Sergeechev, Vice-president of IntAir, commented on the situation: ‘for the last two years accommodation in Dubai has increased in price by 10-30% and 50% for peak dates that has affected the market – those people who preferred to go the UAE often and to stay in 5* hotels have to chose budget accommodation’. Meanwhile, Dmitry Artyunov, Director of Art-tour, agreed that opening of any new hotels would be positive for Dubai market. However, he pointed out that new hotels will not stimulate the Russian demand for Dubai: ‘accommodation in beach hotels is important for Russian tourists, while the market will see city hotels. They simply do not have space for building beach hotels’.
