Cyprus: Special Offers in High Season

[IMG=20619-6398]We remind you that at the end of June Russian tour operators registered cancellations from tours to Cyprus provoked by TV reports about foreign citizens flee from Lebanon. On August 2nd a BANKO correspondent found out that the situation remains the same and the negative effect depresses sales. It is proved by a considerable number of special offers that are not typical for the destination in August. For example, a 7-day tour to Cyprus with a flight on August 3rd was available on August 1st for 457 Euro (3*, HB): according to experts it is around 80 Euro less than a normal price for this period of the season. Furthermore, Revaz Mgeladze, Director Deputy of Zeus Travel, said that the main flights are booked at the moment, while underload is evident on additional flights that results into special offers. ‘The beginning of August turned out to be difficult’, summarized the expert. Alexander Tugolucov, Director of Biblio – Globus, said that the destination is not experiencing flights underload, however, missed profits are provoked by special offers that tour operators have to put to the market in high season. ‘Last year sales depth was better – tours with flights in the middle of August were booked two weeks in advance’, confirmed Alexey Sokolov, the Head of Cyprus Department of ICS Travel Group. Meanwhile, all the experts interviewed by a BANKO correspondent, agreed that the situation will soon stabilize and the demand will either reach the level of last year or exceed it.
