The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Zambia confirmed its agreement with Sun International about the simplified procedure of Zambian visas issuing for Russian tourists (news/ 6.02, 7.02), said Valentina Myagkova, Marketing Director of Sun International in the Department of Russia, CIS and Baltic countries. According to her, rules for visa issuing remain the same: reservation in one of the Sun International hotels and a 14-day limit for tour duration. Besides, passport information of tourists is presented to the Immigration Service of Zambia minimum seven days before their arrival to Livingston. The only problem at the moment referrers to South-African Airways that do not allow tourists to fly without Zambian visa. The issue is being negotiated with the Airline Company. Nevertheless, Nationwide and Comair air companies confirmed they participation in non-visa program.
Russian travel companies, who combine trips to Zambia and the South African Republic, have not realized the implications of the changes in the visa regime. However they point out another problem for those who travel to Africa – the most convenient transit point for traveling to any country of this part of the continent is Johannesburg. Recently the South African Republic has adopted transit visas for all Russian tourists even in case of flight change without leaving airport zone. Elena Pavlyukova, General Director Deputy of Smart Travel, said that this complicates the situation.
