Who Will Leave the Sky?

[IMG=20653-6432]Travel market experts divided opinions towards the sales of tours to Mallorca. You may recall from previous news bulletins that summer 2006 has been marked with the excess of flights to the destination. Stabilization of the situation was forecasted by August when demand and supply were expected to reach the balance. On the one hand travel market players point out the crisis is over and prices have stabilized. On the other hand, the majority of tour operators are concerned about the beginning of September: will the market be again overwhelmed with special offers? Thus, Andrey Shmelkov, Development Director of VKO Travel, said: ‘as a rule at the beginning of autumn the destination is in demand, however, we can not exclude the possibility that some flights to the island will have to be terminated owing many flights to the destination’. Meanwhile, Tatiana Chuvilkina, General Director Deputy of Natalie Tours, believes that sales are good: ‘therefore, we do not plan do adopt any changes within our flight programs. Transaero Boeing – 747 will fly until the end of September’. By now only Vremya-tour officially announced termination of their charters to Mallorca. The operator will take blocks on flights consolidated by Natalie Tours at the beginning of September. ‘We took this decision in order to avoid dumping prices’, explained Nelya Ogurtsova, Commercial Director of Vremya-tour. Travel market experts forecast further changes within flight programs, while key consolidators of flights do not confirm this.
