On May 30th Galina Perova, Director of Travel Agency Denis Aero contacted BANKO. According to her, in February, 2006 Denis Aero booked 12 tours for April to the UAE with Fenec Air. ‘They offered very attractive rates; therefore we decided to work with them. We booked hotels and tickets, received confirmation, stamped invoices and made prepayment - $46, 000 from 50, 000$. However, right before the flight we received new invoices with doubled prices. We contacted Fenec Air that explained the situation by not-full prepayment. Consequently, only two of our clients flied to the Emirates, while others asked for a refund. Fenec Air paid back only $10,000 and provided us with guarantee letters for the rest of the money’, explained Perova. Meanwhile, General Director of Fenec Air, Elena Begun, commented on the situation as follows: ‘Denis Aero Travel Agency booked rooms in Jumeira Beach Hotel, which has very strict payment conditions. In case of full prepayment, booking is confirmed considering our quotas. Otherwise, the hotel increases tariffs. Therefore, we warned Denis Aero in a written form, but received no reply from them. As a result tours were cancelled and we paid the money back to the agency, excluding $1,000 spent on cancellation fees and visas’. Both companies insist they can prove the rightness of their positions documentarily. BANKO will continue reporting on the development of events.
