The Ukrainian demand for Russian holidays has increased

The Ukrainian demand for Russian holidays has increased by 18–20%, reported tour operating companies which specialize in the incoming tourism. This tendency is proved by the increased number of Russian tour operating companies – exhibitors of UІTT-2006 in Kiev. ‘The Russian market is overcrowded with offers therefore Russian tour operators intend to ‘conquer’ the Ukrainian one’, commented Ivan Kovalenko, General Director of Simferopol travel company SNP-Crimea.
However, Russian travel market players explain the tendency by the interest from Ukrainian people. ‘The number of applications from Ukrainian agents who are interested in the product we offer is constantly increasing’, said Olga Ribalova, the Head of STS Travel Company. Furthermore, Mikhail Romanov, General Director of Orpheus, confirmed the interest in the Russian product from Ukraine: ‘the economical situation in Ukraine is stabilizing, thus forming the demand. People travel more that is especially noticeable in large industrial centers – Kiev, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov – which provide the biggest tourist flow’.
Russian Incoming companies point out the demand for the Golden Ring, Karelia, St. Petersburg, northern Russia, the Volga cruises. Meanwhile, Krasnoyarsk is less popular among Ukrainian tourists due to access to the sea in Ukraine.
