The Seychelles are feeling fine

    This time only two New Year charter flights will go to the islands, while last winter there were 4 of them: two before the New Year and two - after. ‘May holidays this year turned out to be failure for several destinations’, - comments Tatiana Rylskaya, leading manager on islands at ‘Art-tour’, - ‘Such a failure became the reason for removing several charters to the Seychelles. According to Mrs. Rylskaya, customer of two remaining flights on the 3rd of January is ‘Art-tour’. The transportation will be carried out by IL-62M ‘Domodedovskie airlines’.
   Sergey Ovchinnikov, sales director at ‘Space Travel’, relates the reduction of volumes of charter flights by two times with the ‘riskiness’ of islands and expensive flights. The cheapest tour package, including a flight and 12-day stay in the country, will cost a client $1980. It was also adversely affected by an available alternative of regular flights by Qatar Airways.
   Tour operator’s opinions about charters to the Seychelles divided. Some specialists consider it unreasonable to arrange charter chains to exotic destinations. According to them, it spoils the exclusive nature of the product. Other operators are convinced that charters to such destinations as the Seychelles can be used selectively and one cannot expect considerable increase of tourist flow. ‘It is physically not possible die to the limited number of hotel rooms in the resort’, comments Olga Novikova, head of the sales department at ‘Maldiviana’ operating company.
