The Greek Consulate in Novorossyisk Adopted New Rules For Visa Applications

29.05.2006, 20:52
Roza Vetrov – South, affiliating company of Roza Vetrov in Rostov, refused to launch a charter flight to Thessaloniki owing the new rules for visa applications adopted by the Greek Consulate in Novorossyisk. Marina Ambartsumyan, Director of Roza Vetrov – South, commented on the situation as follows: ‘in fact we only asked the Airline company to calculate the charter program to Greece. When the Consulate in Novorossyisk adopted new rules for visa applications for citizens of the South of Russia, the charter program to Greece turned out to be unreasonable’. Furthermore, Larisa Kholod, Director of Sales Agency of Sputnik-Rostov, added: 'in our region Greece is not a mass-market destination. We do not operate flights to Greece owing the difficulties with application documents. On April 17th a new consul was appointed who adopted even stricter requirements – tourists must present an original of an employment history, to open a foreign currency account for minimum 3,000$'.    Meanwhile, the Spanish destination appears to be more popular in the South of Russia. Thus, Alexander Mkrtchan, General Director of Travel Company Pink Elephant, which organizes tours to Spain together with Natalie-Tours, said: ‘it is the first time we intend to operate our own charter flights to Barcelona. Given the sales depth, the charter program will be a success’.
