As Andreas Engel, director of Moscow PR department of Germanwings, informed BANKO first of all the route is interesting for the Germans: ‘Stuttgart is a rich business city where representative office of well-known companies are based, for example, of Mercedes. It is natural there are many well-off people who want to visit your country. From the Russian side the interest is noted to be less. Yet, according to our calculations, to gain a profit, we need to have a loading of planes of only 70%’, added Mr. Engel.
Yet, according to Russian operators interviewed by BANKO, it follows that the new airline company is perceived quite ambiguously. Some of them doubt the prospects of a new route. ‘The region where Stuttgart is situated cannot be named popular on our market. I am not sure of there is anyone who will wish to use the offer’, believes. For example, Vladimir Smirnov, head of the German department of DSBW. Others, to the contrary, are even ready to fit their program for flights. ‘There are many lakes in the region and they tourists love them. Before they had to fly to Munich which is considerably more expensive, so it will be more convenient to fly to Stuttgart’, says Boris Blinov, general director of ‘Altus Tour operator’.
The cost of ticket from Stuttgart to Moscow, according to the statement of organizers of the program, should be 19 Euro or more. Meanwhile, according to the agreement between airline authorities of Russia and Germany, flights from Moscow will be sold for not less than $100 one-way. However, according to experts, at peak dates prices even for low-cost transportation can be rather high. The market participants agree that it is worth talking about the route’ advantages only when concrete conditions will be announced, offered by the carrier to Russian players.
