In the accident four people died – both drivers of the bus, representative of Polish Transport Company and the guide of the group – and ten people were injured and are in Paris hospitals at the moment. Renaissance Insurance Company will be responsible for the return of tourists to Russia.
According to Renaissance representatives all tourists were insured upon a special program ‘Bus Tour’ that involves a wider list of risks including road accidents. The web site of Renaissance says that this case is special under control and the service company Global Voyager Assistance is delivering medical care to those who suffered in the accident.
Meanwhile, Dmitry Fomintsev, the bus Neoplan produced in 1997 was in perfect technical condition. Tour operator Tourtrans Voyage leased it from the Polish transport company. The bus was appropriately insured. Both drivers had work experience of more than 10 years. Nevertheless, among the possible factors that caused the accident coincidence and human factor are named. The driver could not react on suddenly braked cars ahead that provoked a crash with the lorry.
