Meanwhile, Larisa Yakubovich, the Head of Development department of Neva, said: ‘new programs will hardly affect the currently popular destinations. They will most probably attract tourists who book tours with Polish and Lithuanian tour operators’.
Furthermore, local travel companies believe that given the direct flights offered by Neva tourists from Kaliningrad who now have to fly through Vilnius, Warsaw and Moscow, will be interested in Neva’s assortment.
According to a representative of Region-Service, Travel Company in Kaliningrad, it is more convenient for passengers to fly from the local airport. Besides, at the moment Neva is the only company that operates direct flights from the region. Therefore, people will prefer it to other travel companies regarding all destinations it offers.
Simultaneously, local market players, point out the flaw of St. Petersburg operator – little variability of tour packages: ‘for example, they have tour for only ten days, while tourists might want to go for either eight or eleven days. Therefore, we continue working with a Lithuanian operator Novotouros in order to offer our clients different variants of tour packages’, explained Elena Markosyan, Director of Kaliningrad Travel Agency, Baltic Exotic.
It is interesting, that other large tour operators traditionally active in regions do not rush into competition with Neva in Kaliningrad. Anna Podgornaya, sales Director of Pegas Turistik, pointed out: ‘owing small market size, air traffic volume provided by Neva is enough for the region even considering possible increase in tourist flow and perspectives. We do not want to provoke the excess of flights by launching our charters from Kaliningrad’.
