Travel market players who specialize in the Malta market said in the interview to a BANKO correspondent that the situation is not clear with air traffic volume to the destination.
Firstly, the decision has not been made regarding the launch of the second charter flight. You may recall from earlier news bulletins that at the end of September 2005 Consol – a consolidator of the only charter from Moscow – announced its intention to launch one more flight in 2006 season (news/30.09.05). ‘The decision has been taken regarding one flight by Tu-154-M realized by Atlant-Soyuz. Besides, we booked one more aircraft from the same airline, and we plan the launch for the last week of June, but maximum ten flights during the summer season will be made’, commented Yulia Fetisova, General Director of Consol.
Secondly, a list of companies who buy blocks from the airline has not been formed yet. Forecasts say there will be the same companies as last year – Univestmedia, Trio-Tours, Riviera, Lora Tour etc.). The final variant will be announced before the Mitt exhibition in Moscow.
Meanwhile, those who refuse to buy blocks will have to buy tickets on regular flights by Air Malta. However, travel market players pointed out that starting from this season the Airline have offered very inconvenient slots from Moscow. ‘Flights are on 4 a.m. or 5a.m. Therefore, at the moment touroperating companies are negotiating with Air Malta at the moment’, explained Marina Kreimer, General Director of Trio Tours.
As a result the subject that generates great interest behind the scenes of the Russian travel market is a possibility of charter launch by one of the players as an alternative for regular flights. Experts do not express enthusiasm towards such a perspective referring to the last year when even one charter was not 100% loaded.
