At the beginning of the summer season air traffic volume from Kazan increased, however, not all tour operators could load additional seats that stimulated special offers in the region. For example, a week tour to Kemer (Turkey) in 5* hotel was on offer for $1050 per double room.
A number of special offers grew owing Pegas Touristik substituted TU-154 by IL-86. Besides, a scheduled flight Kazan – Istanbul - Antalya by Turkish Airlines was launched in March.
However, Leonid Press, Director of Sten Travel Company, pointed out that the flight by Turkish Airlines is loaded with tourists traveling to Istanbul mainly.
Moreover, using more capacious aircraft results into problems for Russian tour operators that specialize in the Turkish market. Thus, Evgenui Nikulin, Director of Sputnik Travel Company, said: ‘due to flights underload aircraft had to fly through Samara that resulted into discomfort for tourists from Kazan’. ‘It is problematic to handle big aircraft in the Kazan airport. Customs service cannot coup with 365 passengers that lead to long queues’. Kazan Travel Companies are concerned that low transit capacity of the airport might affect air traffic in the peak season’, said Press.
