Russian tourists choosing exotic destinations will have a chance to celebrate New Year in unusually exotic atmosphere. The Icelandic airline Icelandair decided to operate direct flights from Moscow to Reykjavik. Direct flights on the route have not been organized since the cold war when the federal aircraft took the last USSR leader, Mikhail Gorbachev, to the negotiations with Ronald Reagan, US President. Icelandair plan to operate flights from December 30th to January 6th. The organizers of the flights say that a direct flight engendered demand for the destination – a cost of a standard tour to Iceland is around 1,500 Euros. Representatives of Jazz Tour – the flight consolidator, the flight is practically fully booked at the moment that evidently proves the perspectives of the destination. Ella Baranova, Head of the Scandinavian Department of PAC Group, agreed: ‘Iceland is a very unusual and interesting country, so called northern exoticism’. Meanwhile, there is another side of the coin. The promotion of the new product requires additional expenses. Besides, in order to support the interest and to increase sales high qualification of travel agents is required, the expert explained.
