Excess Of Flights To Pardubice

30.06.2006, 18:00
[IMG=20308-6069]On July 9th one Sunday charter to Pardubice, Czech Republic, will be terminated following the decision of Lanta-tour voyage and Amigo tours to consolidate one flight instead of two separate charters to the city. The decision to optimize charter programs was taken owing excess of flights to Pardubice. Except flights of Lanta-tour voyage and Amigo tours, Neva Travel Company and Travelland have been operating flights to the destination by TU-204 and Boeing-737 correspondingly. Therefore, four flights could not meet the current demand for the city, thus, provoking excess of air traffic volume. Elena Ermakova, Director of Travelland, explained: ‘at the moment beside charters to Pardubice there are 35 weekly flights to Prague and five - to Karlovi Vari, that provides the Czech destination with enough air traffic volume’. All the consolidators of charter flights to Pardubice announced the importance of one flight termination, however, the ambitions of tour operators resulted into four underloaded flights to the destination followed by drop in prices for June from 450 Euro to 200Euro. For example, Olga Akimova, the Head of the European Department of Neva Travel Company, commented as follows: ‘as a result of excess of flights to Pardubice we had to reduce prices in order to load flights. That decreased our profits, however, we do not plan to cancel our flight. Our company was a pioneer on the route’. Travelland reaction was similar. Therefore, the situation was crisis until Amigo tours and Lanta-tour voyage decided to combine forces as a compromise decision. ‘It was a compulsory measure, in the interest of business. In summer when tourists prefer sea resorts, the demand for the Czech republic is not high’, explained the decision a representative of Lanta-tour voyage.
