The plans regarding flights to Italy from Chelyabinsk and Ekaterinburg, announced by Russian tour operators, suggest the double increase of last year air traffic volume, said the experts of the Ural market to a BANKO correspondent.
Thus, starting from the beginning of June Natalie Tours, World Fund and PAC Group intend to launch a weekly flight to Rimini, while last year one flight was operated every two weeks. Besides, PAC Group also plans a charter to Sicily, which will fly every 11-12 days. Furthermore, Uzhel & Co announced a launch of charter flight to Rimini from Chelyabinsk. Among the airline companies interested in charter programs to Italy there are VIM-avia, Ural Airlines, Sibir and Vladivostok-avia.
As a result experts forecast unavoidable dumping policy unlike last year, which was marked with a shortage of charter flights to the destination. ‘In such a situation the supply will certainly exceed the demand’, stated Sergey Buzko, General Director of Mir Travel Company. Olga Svechkova, Vice-President of World Fund added: ‘such an increase of air traffic volume is not reasonable. The destination has just developed. Two previous years of consolidating flights were aimed at promoting Italy’.
Tour operators believe it is too early to forecast rates for flight as not all the contracts with the airline companies have been signed yet. Moreover, travel market experts do not rush into forecasting the success of the charter programs. However, the travel market divide opinions regarding, for example, the program from Chelyabinsk organized by Uzhel together with Sibir. The majority of experts believe, that in case of failure Uzhel will reorientate its tourists from Chelyabinsk to fly from Moscow.
