On April 11th a BANKO correspondent found out how floods in Europe affected the Russian travel market.
Thus, the majority of experts are primarily concerned about the mass media exaggerated attention to the situation in Europe. For the second week floods in the European cities have been in the news on Russian TV. For example, Artem Kozlovsky believes that the situation has been considerably exaggerated by mass media: ‘information about the flooded center of Prague which in fact was absolutely dry provoked the phone calls from our clients’.
Meanwhile, Roman Rudenko, Tourism Director of Trans-tour Voyage, stated: ‘our company had only few cancellations from alarmed tourists’. He also pointed out that the present situation cannot be compared to the situation in 2002.
‘At the end of March many groups returned to Russia through Dresden where we could organize all the planned excursions. Moreover, after the catastrophic situation in 2002 we worked out alternative routs. We did not have cancellations from our clients’, summarized Rudenko.
