The decrease in number of flights to the UAE created illusion of growth in demand for the destination, travel market players point out. However, experts emphasize that in fact the destination was not marked with the increased tourist flow. ‘Owing shortage of flights to the Emirates there is an illusion that the tourist flow has increased’, said the Head of the UAE Department of Russian Express, Andrey Zorin. ‘I think that the situation will normalize by the end of May, when tourists will change for summer destinations’, commented Tourism Director of IntAir, Elena Komarova.
Meanwhile, Dmitriy Artyunov, General Director of Art-tour, commented on the situation in the interview to a BANKO correspondent as follows: ‘Of course, we can not say that the UAE destination is booming at the moment, but it is not marked with the traditional drop in demand after May Holidays. In our company every summer the tourist flow to the Emirates increase by 20-25%. Firstly, hotels reduce rates for accommodation. Secondly, the destination is marked with the developing infrastructure. The advertising campaign to attract tourists to Dubai in summer has worked for 5 years, therefore, the results are to be seen soon’.
