Domodedovo International Airport: Second Top Airport In Eastern Europe According to Skytrax

   The Association “Airport” of CIS Civil Aviation announced the results of the Best CIS Airport Awards 2005. Domodedovo Airport was recognized the best air gates of CIS countries, while Vnukovo Airport was entitled the best developing airport.
    Meanwhile, according to experts interviewed by a BANKO correspondent, for a long time Russian Airports did not participate in the global survey conducted by the English Skytrax. However, a BANKO correspondent found out that in May Skytrax announced the results of the local Eastern Europe survey, according to which Domodevo International Airport was entitled second top Airport after Leipzig Airport.
    Ilia Novokhatskyi, the Head of S7 Airlines Press Service, commented as follows: ‘the Moscow Airports are the best in Russia. Of course, we cannot compare them to London and Frankfurt but they meet the international standards. Comparing to highly developed technologies of western airports we still have some flaws, for example, low passenger capacity of Sheremetevo Airport. But these problems are being solved at the moment. Vnukovo, in particular, is turning over a new leaf’.
