Charter Flight To Sardinia: Hit of Sales

Charter Flight To Sardinia: Hit of Sales

19.06.2006, 12:15
Cancellation of daily Alitalia scheduled flights from Rome to Sardinia provoked shortage of flights to the destination. According to experts, the only airline company operating scheduled flights from the capital of Italy to Sardinia is Meridiana. Therefore, at the moment tourists arriving from Moscow to Rome had to wait at the airport, as Meridiana does not cope with a passenger flow even after increasing a number of flights to 10. Travel market experts point out the temporal character of the problem. Besides, the current situation might stimulate the demand for a charter from Moscow to Sardinia. The first flight consolidated by Jet Travel, Ascent Travel and Tourparade will be operated on June 24th. Thus, a representative of Tourparade Travel Company commented as follows: ‘tourists who fly by scheduled flights usually are loyal to them, but in this case their interests, including business class, are considered. Therefore, we have chosen TU-154 for operating charter flights to Sardinia’. Meanwhile, all three consolidating companies point out active sales for the charter, thus, forecasting shortage of air traffic volume to Sardinia at the peak season. For example, Evgeny Sudbin, General Director Deputy of Ascent Travel, stated: ‘high demand for a charter will contribute into the promotion of the destination’. On the other hand, travel market professionals emphasize the current situation will hardly change the dynamics of tourist flow. Thus, Lubov Chistyakova, Executive Director of Mondo tours, said: 'most probably Alitalia will relaunch its scheduled flight to Sardinia. Moreover, it is possible to fly to Sardinia via Milan which coincides with a flight via Rome in both time and price’.
