10.02.2006, 18:47
Gong Kong – Moscow- Manchester flight by Cathay Pacific planned to be launched in March 27th failed due to ‘commercial and operational reasons’. The launch was postponed for an indefinite period.
Lyudmila Tomasheva, Cathay Pacific representative, confirmed in the interview to a BANKO correspondent, that at the moment they are working out the details of the Gong Kong – Moscow-Manchester program and plan to launch it in 2006.
You may recall from earlier bulletins that at present only Aeroflot realize Moscow –Gong-Kong flights hardly meeting the increasing demand for the destination. Therefore, 7 flights per week including potential flights by Cathay Pacific would improve the situation. Moreover, Gong-Kong Airlines intend to use А-340-300 aircraft and to provide high-quality service to its passengers.
Russian travel market players comment on the situation as follows. According to Andrey Surikov, Senior Manager of Express Line, there should be more flights to Gong-Kong due to the increasing number of exhibitions there. Thus, in 2005 Gong-Kong welcomed 22, 200 Russian tourists that is 32,6 % more than in 2004. Meanwhile, Natalia Kondratieva, manager of Maestro Travel Company, believes that Aeroflot can not provide sufficient number of flights to Gong-Kong at the moment. Therefore it is necessary to increase the number of fights to at least five per week.
