[IMG=21087-6928]According to the survey organized by a BANKO correspondent tour operators that specialize in tours to Bulgaria are not concerned about the ban on flights by IL-type aircraft following the fact Bulgaria joins the European Union on January 1st 2007. According to the flight rules of the EU, flights by IL-type aircraft are prohibited with the UE countries owing the noise they produce. Elena Andrievskaya, Head of Bulgarian Department of ICS Travel group, commented: ‘we are informed about the coming changes, however, at the moment there has been no official information about the ban. We will operate flights by IL aircraft during the New Year period. Then, we will operate flights by other aircraft, Boeings, most probably’. Furthermore, Dmitry Cherepov, Director of Bulgarian Department of CAPITAL TOUR, believes: ‘according to the previous experience, flights by IL-type aircraft will be permitted during the New Year period. In general ban on flights by IL aircraft will not considerably affect the Bulgarian market owing lower demand for the destination in winter’. Meanwhile, Valentina Fabrina, Head of the Bulgarian Department of Skyway, pointed out: ‘the ban on IL aircraft will provoke increase of air traffic rates’. Tour operators say that if flights by IL aircraft are banned package cost to Bulgaria will grow: this aircraft is more economically effective that TU-type aircraft.
