Aeroflot Is Waiting For The Ministry of Justice Approval

[IMG=20034-5799]Aeroflot tested and launched a system of on-line payments on its Internet site. According to Aeroflot representatives, the system is a platform for e-tickets introduction. The system allows passengers to book a flight, pay for it and go to the airport with a booking confirmation only. ‘Introduction of e-tickets will reduce the cost of each ticket by 9-10%’, said Alexey Sidorov, Commercial Director of Aeroflot. Meanwhile, e-tickets adoption is a compulsory requirement of SkyTeam and IATA. However, owing the lack of necessary regulatory system, Aeroflot passengers have to go to the Airline’s offices to get tickets. On May 6th, 2006 the Ministry of Transport signed the Decree confirming e-ticketing procedure. At the moment it is being approved by the Ministry of Justice. However, travel market experts believe, it might take a long time. Thus, Lev Koshlyakov, General Director Deputy in PR of Aeroflot, commented: ‘the issue has been disputed for two years. In fact it is a dispute between two legal schools. One of them believes that the problem can be resolved within the current legislature, while the other thinks that introduction of e-ticketing system will require adoption of changes within a range of legislative acts. Most probably, the second school is interested in involvement of a big number of lawyers specializing in legal projects promotion through the State Duma’.
